Guess Who?

These very chilly days have eased me back into the studio. Better to be inside than out.

Yesterday I tackled a subject I had wanted to do for quite some time. I recognize him. Do you? :)

Final version--you can see I changed and tweaked some details from the work in progress shown at the very top (ears, bridge of the nose, beard)
Three photos taken in three different rooms. Amazing how light affects colours!

    1. It's best. We don't want fame to go to his head. :)

  2. Ohh, he's lovely, i like the washes of his colours, it can't have been easy getting all those squiggly hairs, the really silky looking light ones must be hard! The light does make a real difference, the middle one looks more yellow for some reason? But the bottom one has the lovely colour of him. Good on you for tackling it. I think you've captured something of his character too!
I did a painting of a dog walking friends dog, for his 65th birthday, she passed away not long after, she was the same age as my pooch, I may put it on my blog soon, I blogged about them a while back. :)

    1. Thanks so much, Julie. He's got so many crazy curls, I had to hold myself back and not put them all! The middle photo was taken in my studio with my lamp on. Quite a difference between the artificial and natural light.

  3. Kathleen, that is a fabulous painting of Meeko. You've caught his expression so well!
We'll see if I can manage to get this comment to you. I do better when my eldest daughter is nearby to fix my computer!!

    1. Thanks, Mary Jo. (I think it's you.) It's only one painting for now but a series is a possibility if the model is willing. :)
