Lilac Painting

 Lilacs Watercolor Painting
And it's finished!

I posted in-progress photos of my lilac watercolour yesterday. Here's the final painting.  I really tried not to add too much detail and to keep things loose and suggested. (Not my normal way of painting down to very last line and dot!)

Detail of Lilacs
The page views of my blog have a good chance of topping 10,000 this weekend. It's just over nine months since I started my blog. I just wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you who comes here. It means so very much to me.

Have a happy holiday weekend (for those of you with one) and a wonderful ordinary one for those without!

  3. I REALLY like this painting - it has so much of "you" in it!

I sahre your dilemma fromthe last post - garden guilt vs brush guilt......

    1. What a lovely thing to say Cindy! Thanks.

I'm out in the garden today. Planting veggies first and then I have to weed the flower beds before the weeds take over completely. Who was the idiotic garden designer who put in so many flowers beds here? Oops, guess that would be me. :)

  4. I love how you've photographed the painting in with the flowers, it looks wonderful, I think you must be pleased with how it's turned out, so lovely and frothy, just like the real thing! Have a good weekend too, it's still cold here, but better temps forecast for in the week. Not wanted to be in the garden, it's too cold!

    1. Thanks Julie! I'm really happy I was able to leave it loose--a real challenge for perfectionist, detail-oriented me. :) I do like it and hope that I can do more in a similar vein. It really feels like summer here today. I'm sure it is crossing the Atlantic towards you right now!

    1. Thanks Margie very much. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend.

My big lilacs are close to the end of their blooming period but I have dwarf lilacs (Palibin and Miss Kim) just about to bloom. Such a beautiful flower.

  6. hello Kathleen, I'm back from my little break, and trying to catch up with everyone's news. Your lilac painting is just wonderful, and I like this "loose" watercolor style, as much as the "precise" one. The loose one has that free, springy, breezy feeling to it, which is very very nice !
